Josh Gibson, founder of Kiorion, has more than two decades’ experience working at the community-industry-government interface on protected area, natural resource and infrastructure projects.

Josh Gibson has specialist expertise in environmental strategic planning, program and policy delivery, team leadership, project management, workshop facilitation and engagement – all focused on producing positive change and measurable outcomes.
Josh established Kiorion after 25 years working in the environment and community development sectors. She has a strong technical knowledge in coral reef conservation, marine protected area and world heritage property management and is experienced in multi-disciplinary and integrated approaches.
Before returning to the private sector in 2018, Josh worked with the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority from 2010-2017. She was responsible for coordinating and delivering a range of strategic projects focused on building the Reef’s resilience including: the Great Barrier Reef Blueprint for Resilience; agency commitments under the Reef 2050 Plan; cumulative impact and net benefit policies; and the Great Barrier Reef Strategic Assessment.
Josh's other public-sector positions have included Executive Director of the Wet Tropics Management Authority and Head of Major Industries for the New South Wales Department of Environment.
Josh's early career in marine biology, tourism and community development laid the foundation for her love of hands-on collaborative approaches which connect people and ideas, and translate knowledge into positive outcomes for the environment.
